Color Selection

Typically when selecting frame color you want to choose a color that compliments either your skin tone or hair color. Skin tone and hair color are broadly classified into warm or cool categories.

Warm: Warm skin tones have a bronze, golden, or peaches and cream cast. In addition, warm hair colors include blond, light brown, brown, dark brown and flat black. For lighter hair colors select lighter more subtle colored frames. For darker hair colors choose deeper more vibrant shades.

The frame colors that compliment the warm tones best include:
GOLD
BRONZE
COPPER
TORTOISE
HONEY
BROWN
CORAL
AGUA

Cool: If you have blue or pink undertones to your skin you would be classified as a cool skin tone. In addition hair colors with cool tones include strawberry blond, auburn, silver or “salt and pepper” style hair, as well as blue black.

Frame colors that compliment these tones best include:
SILVER
PEWTER
GUNMETAL
BLUE
BLUE-GRAY
PINK
VIOLET
CHARCOAL
BLACK

Don’t forget your eyes: Yes you want to select a frame color that compliments you natural skin tones and/ or hair color, but what you don’t want to do is over power your eye color when you make your selection. So if you have light blue eyes it is best to stay with a light more subtle color. On the flip, side if you have green or brown eyes rich vibrant colors usually work best.

Keep in mind it is okay to break the rules. If you want a look that is more dramatic or reflects your personality instead of your skin tones don’t be afraid to go for it.

Frames are not just a necessity anymore they are fun, fashionable and can make a statement if you choose to let them. They can be an extension of who you are. They can make a statement about your mood or your lifestyle.
