laurel eye clinic ophtalmologist honored as a top physician
BROOKVILLE, PA – At an awards banquet on Saturday, March 4th, Laurel Eye Clinic ophthalmologist Andrew Batchelet, M.D. was formally recognized as a “Top 40 under 40” physician by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED).
This designation means that Dr. Batchelet is among 42 physicians identified in Pennsylvania who have demonstrated a significant amount of success for someone so early in their medical career. Those selected were chosen by a committee of physicians after being nominated for outstanding contributions to the practice of medicine and the delivery of patient care, despite being early in their medical careers.
According to Scott Shapiro, MD, president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, up-and-coming medical leaders often go unrecognized for their contributions to patient care primarily because they’re just starting their careers and still establishing themselves but many of these early career physicians are also outstanding community leaders and patient advocates.
Dr. Batchelet graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. He then received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his internship at UPMC Mercy, his Ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and also special training in modern developing world surgical care obtained in Peru.
Dr. Batchelet is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, trained in a wide range of diagnostic and surgical interventions, including the most advanced cataract & refractive techniques. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Allegheny County Medical Society.
Dr. Batchelet joined the Laurel Eye Clinic in 2015 after spending the three years in practice in Wexford, PA. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
